Jonathan Edward ‘Jon’ Bernthal was born on 20 September 1976 under the sign of Virgo, in Washington, D.C. USA. He was raised in a Jewish family in Cabin John, Maryland by his father, Eric Lawrence ‘Rick’ Bernthal, a former attorney, and his mother, Joan Lurie Bernthal.
He has two brothers – Thomas works as a consulting agency CEO and is engaged to Sheryl Sandberg, while his brother Nicholas is an orthopedic surgeon and professor at UCLA.
Jon went to the Sidwell Friends School, and upon matriculation in 1995, he enrolled into Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, but dropped out, and under the influence of his acting teacher, Jon moved to Moscow, Russia to study acting at The Moscow Art Theatre School.
